Many calipers on the market today are forged to reduce costs. This limits design possibilities as threads and internal fluid circuits require additional machining afterward. HEL calipers are entirely precision machined from race-grade solid billet 6082-T6 aluminum, maximizing weight efficiency and minimizing material usage. Machined and forged calipers are not comparable – always choose CNC-machined options for the best design, precision, and finish available on the market.
V2 Model
Our V2 model is a progression from our original 100mm, 108mm, and 130mm calipers. These new versions feature updated styling that allows for an outboard bleed nipple and banjo take-off, making bleeding and installation easier. They also feature five bolts instead of the previous three, providing more stability under braking and added strength. They come complete with stainless steel pad pins, which have been upgraded (not shown in photo) to include an r-clip at the back and a lock wire hole at the front. They still use the original pad design, allowing you to choose your preferred manufacturer and compound. Fully CNC machined at our Exeter HQ – they are a significant step forward.
Complete Circuit Technology
Unlike calipers that only feed fluid from one side, HEL calipers utilize a fully circulating fluid circuit. This race-inspired feature allows brake fluid to flow completely throughout the caliper, making air removal from the system easier and faster during bleeding.
Heat Sink Pistons
HEL's stainless steel pistons act as heat sinks, drawing extreme temperatures generated during racing into the piston and away from the caliper body where the fluid circulates. This keeps the fluid at its optimum operating temperature and prevents boiling (which varies depending on fluid specification). On the track and at the limit, this technology delivers exceptional performance, providing fade-free, powerful braking with consistent feel – lap after lap.
World-Class Research & Development
The HEL brake lab develops all braking products directly from extensive track data collected from HEL's Superbike and Road Racing teams. We received so much positive feedback on our V1 calipers that we decided to revisit the styling and performance to make them even better. The V2 design is based on extreme race loading values derived from worst-case scenario calculations – the maximum front brake force possible before the motorcycle would start rotating around the front wheel and flipping.
Structural integrity, stiffness, and displacement resistance are all fully optimized for prolonged use under extreme conditions.
Brake Pad Compatibility
We chose a standard OEM brake pad shape to provide you with greater flexibility when selecting brake pads. Below is a list of some brake pad manufacturers and their part numbers that we know of.
